OLC POLICY

If you choose to design an area and write it on AddictMUD, you must be made aware of a policy that will be strictly enforced.

Due to past problems with a large number of people starting projects and after building a room or two, disappearing or just merely hanging around doing nothing, these guidelines have been created. Brazil is the person currently with primary authority to assign a zone to someone wanting to build, and with the power to enforce these policies, or modify them as seen fit.

  1. If you wish to build an area, please go to the web site and submit an application. (http://www.addictmud.org/olc). All fields in the application are mandatory. Do not mudmail anyone, or ask an immortal if your email was received, it is merely an annoyance, you will receive a response via email or mudmail when/if your proposal is accepted.
  2. Each project may be worked on by as many authors as the person who applied for the area wants to allow. The person assigned the area will have full control over who is allowed to edit the area with the in-game "zallow" and "zdeny" commands.
  3. If a area goes unmodified for an "unreasonable amount of time", it will be removed from the active building port so that another builder may be given the spot. If you are going to be absent for a while please inform an immortal so the appropriate action will be taken. If your zone is removed from the active port, please contact Brazil because there is a strong possibility we still have the zone, dependent on how much has been done.
  4. The AddictMUD implementation team reserves the right to use/not use any project created using OLC. Any changes made to the completed project before it is installed in the mortal world may be discussed with the primary author, if possible.
  5. We will not trade or give away areas built with the OLC without permission from the author(s). Please provide us with a current email address so that we may contact you if you leave AddictMUD for any reason.
  6. All work done is considered the property of AddictMUD, and it's administration, and will not be removed unless the Implementation Team deems fit to do so. If you leave an unfinished area, we reserve the right to do whatever we feel necessary to that area to finish it if we choose to do so.
  7. You will not necessarily be given an immortal on the game port, promoted or rewarded for creating an area for AddictMUD. It will, however be considered when such things are discussed.
  8. Since olc is done on another port, anyone should have access to all the commands necessary to load eq and create test characters to test the area. If you need something to assist, please ask.

This policy was designed to protect both the author's and the AddictMUD Implementation Team's interests and is non-negotiable. If any portion of this policy is objectionable to the perspective author, the only recourse he/she has is to not use OLC to design and build an area.
